Bayreuth Festival 2008 Tickets

 

The deadline to apply for tickets is February 15, 2008. Tickets will be allocated to MEMBERS ONLY. You must renew your membership by February 1, 2008 to qualify for tickets. The Membership Year runs from January 1 to December 31, 2008, regardless of when you join. Demand for tickets this year will far exceed supply so that many who apply this year may have to wait until next year to qualify for tickets!

 

A. Performance Dates:  August 20 to 28, 2008 for the four Ring operas, Tristan und Isolde, Die Meistersinger, and Parsifal.  

 

B. Ticket Prices:  MEMBERS ONLY may apply for one set each of tickets for

(A) all seven operas including the (four) Ring operas and the (three) non-Ring operas; ticket prices range from $2,240 to $1,360;

(B) the (four) Ring operas only from $1,230 to $655 or

(C) the (three) non-Ring operas only from $1,010 to $705,

No single tickets will be sold.  Final ticket prices for tickets will depend on the dollar-Euro exchange rate in February 2008.  Ticket prices will include a 20% tax deductible donation for handling costs and for funding other Society programs.  Our cancellation policy is explained on the application form (see reverse side of this letter).

 

C.  Applying for tickets:  If you wish to apply for tickets, please send by February 15, 2008 your application form with (1) your deposit of $300 for each set of tickets requested and (2) your signature of Commitment to Purchase and Accept the Ticket Sales Provisions (see paragraph E, below and the reverse side of this letter).  Tickets may also be requested on our website (www.wagner-dc.org with credit card information.

 

D. Notification of Final Payments:  Members who are allocated tickets will be advised by February 28, 2008.  The full price of tickets (minus the deposit) will be due by March 15, 2008..  Deposits by Members who do not receive tickets will be returned by March 15, 2008. 

 

E. Travel, Lodgings and “NO Re-sale!”:  Travel and lodgings are the responsibility of Members. Let us know if you need help. Ticket re-sales by Members who receive tickets are strictly prohibited. The Bayreuth Ticket Office, reserves the right to require a picture ID conforming to the names and seat numbers we are required to report in advance.

Cancellation Policy: Up to May 15th, the Society will allow members who want to cancel their purchases a refund of 80 percent of the amount they will have paid the Society by that time.  The 80 percent represents the amount of our ticket charge less our 20 percent service charge, which is not refundable.  After May 15th, members who cancel can receive a refund of 80 percent of their total charge only if and when the Society is able to re-sell their tickets.  If the Society fails to re-sell the tickets, canceling members must forfeit their whole charge.
