Music lovers will remember the brilliant Iain Scott in his Wagner Society lecture of February 2000 on Tannhäuser. Come and hear Iain Scott’s interesting reasons to believe that
the beautiful quintet from his favorite opera Die Meistersinger is one of the high points of civilization
(!). Mr. Scott’s lecture will be
generously illustrated with audio excerpts from his favorite performances of
the great Wagner masterpiece that is being put on this year both at the
Metropolitan Opera and at the San Francisco Opera. Thursday, October 18 at 7:30 P.M. at

Lear. The famed soprano
will talk about her careers as singer, wife, mother, and grandmother with
plenty of sound and video illustrations.

Five singers with potential in the Wagner repertoire in opera will give a program of Wagner arias and songs. $25 for Wagner Society Members, $35 for the general public.
