Background: We arrive at Die Meistersinger this year building on the success of our four previous Wildnis weekends on Der Ring des Nibelungen: Das Rheingold (2001), Die Walküre (2002), Siegfried (2003) and Götterdämmerung (2004). The objectives of the weekend are met through a combination of the lecture and discussion sessions in the comfortable meeting rooms, the collegial conversations in the corridors and at meal times as well as the walks in the bucolic countryside with the lecturers and Members.

The two main presenters -- the "dream team" for previous Wildnis participants -- are well  known Bayreuth Festival lecturers and discussion leaders:

· Pianist Jeffrey Swann will present his prized lecture-demonstrations at the piano known from previous Wildnis weekends and in Washington recently from the historic Smithsonian Institution Tristan und Isolde seminar co-sponsored with the Society.

· Professor Simon Williams of the University of California at Santa Barbara, a veteran of all previous Wildnis weekends, will present his characteristically insightful lectures on Wagner and drama.

· The famous Saturday night libretto reading starring talented and willing participating Members will be directed again by Society Board Member Betty Byrne.

· The Moderator for the weekend will be Society President Aurelius (Aury) Fernandez with the assistance of Board Members and previous Wildnis weekend participants

Registration Fee: $295 per person (single room); $270 per person (double room) including the libretto, two nights lodging, breakfast, lunch and dinner and two evening after hours parties with libations and a special celebration after the Saturday night libretto reading.
