Details
Lohengrin is the last, and greatest, of all the German Romantic operas. It expresses themes -- obsessive love, the Grail story, mystical dreams, political intrigue, and social fragmentation -- that Wagner will take up in all of the seven masterpieces to follow, expressed in music of immortal beauty. WSWDC Chairman Jim Holman offers this lecture as a prelude to an in-depth study of Lohengrin at WSWDC's Wagner in der Wildnis, June 5-7.
