Jim Holman will interview Maestro Adam Turner, who is conducting Virginia Opera’s production of The Valkyrie this fall, as adapted by Jonathan Dove and Graham Vick, and orchestrated by Jonathan Dove. The production features the company debut of innovative stage director, Joachim Schamberger. Maestro Turner was appointed Artistic Director of Virginia Opera in 2018, following four seasons as Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor. The youngest artistic director in the company's history, Maestro Turner will conduct its production of The Valkyrie at George Mason University on Saturday evening, October 8 and Sunday afternoon, October 9. Opera News hailed his "sensitive conducting" and dctheaterarts.org describes him as "most definitely a performing artist to watch." He has received critical acclaim for the breadth of his repertoire, artistic vision, and polished technique. Read more about Maestro Turner here.
A pre-performance discussion by Virginia Opera Resident Scholar Joshua Borths will take place 45 minutes prior to curtain. Cast members' biographies are available on the Virginia Opera website; performance information, schedule and tickets to The Valkyrie may be found here.
